High quality of built-in
and external power sources, which are a part of an audio system
(AMP, Pre-Amp, etc.), are critical requirements for attaining the
reproducibility of musical sound signals of high quality. Similar
requirements apply to the quality of a power cord – one of the most
important components of a power source. Power cords intended for
applications in audio and video digital equipment (CD, DVD, etc.)
differ considerably from those used in analog systems. Fundamentally
different physical principles of transmitting electrical sound
signals in digital and analog systems define, in turn, substantial
differences in their spectral ranges (up to 30 kHz for an analog
system and 2.8 MHz (44.1 Mbit) - 100 times greater range for a
digital one).
The difference in the
spectral range of transmitted signals results in their different
susceptibility to the effect of broadband detrimental interferences.
The latter, to one extent or another, influence both digital and
analog sound reproductions. Unlike analog, digital systems are most
sensitive to impulse and high-frequency (RF) interferences at
frequencies of approximately 3 MHz and are less sensitive to analog
low-frequency (HF) interferences. These HF interferences in power
supplies used in digital systems may be the reason for phase noise
and errors that dramatically reduce sound quality. Our specially
designed ELCO AUDIO Palladium/Gold plated Pure Silver Digital Power
Cord consist of two Round cross section Gold plated Pure
Silver(99.99% purity) current transmitting conductors (LINE and
NEUTRAL) with total 14AWG.
To further improve the
suppression of HF interferences, the ground conductor is made of
Palladium plated Pure Silver Ribbon (99.99% purity) wires (total 13
AWG). This configuration of the ground wire has low total electrical
resistance for high-frequency interferences and permits their
blockage at the output of the power cable, thus, preventing their
further transmission into the sound-reproducing system. Both Wall
Plug and IEC plug equipped with Grounded Gold plated Audio Grade
Copper shield that provides additional RF/EMI protection of prong to
conductor connection termination.
